Oct 22: Jasper-Pulaski

Image
Travelled to Jasper-Pulaski Fish & Wildlife area today.  The Sandhill Cranes were abundant but kept their distance.  Not the case with the largest Vulture I have ever seen which greeted me near the entrance.   Sandhill Cranes official count is already at 3,804. Last year's late November peak grew to 28,652. D7100:  1/500s, f6.3, ISO 140 D700 D700

Oct 8: Rooftop Hawk

Image
Saw this guy on a house rooftop in Tipton Lakes, Columbus,  IN.  Ewa took this with the Nikon A900 sitting in the passenger side of the car, he was probably 50 yards away.  She did an amazing job and got the perfect profile after about 10 pictures.  That small superzoom camera was easier to use in tight quarters.  Comes in very handy.
